Greencard Application the American Dream

Many people aspire to visit, work and stay in the United States America. It's one of the powerful nations in the world not to mention the dollar rate rising everyday. There are many job opportunities in America and better facilities that most developing countries only dream of. 

So many things are said about America for those who haven't stepped in that country. For this reason the American people have created an opportunity for lucky people to fulfill their dreams in America. Each year 55,0000 people get a green card lottery.

What's a Greencard?

For those who did not know, a greencard as the name states is a US permit that enables the selected few to live and work in America without having to struggle to apply for a work permit. The winners have the freedom to live, work, travel to different parts of America, In short it's a citizenship granted to you by the American government.

Who's Eligible for a Greencard?

 Anyone who's not an American citizen can apply for a green card except a few selected countries, who has attained a high school diploma or its equivalent.

The requirements needed to apply for a greencard are:

These are very important details on the photo that'll booast your luck in being selected. Failure to adhere to these can give you an automatic disqualification.

The size of the photo should not exceed 600 pixel.

The background should be white.

The photo needs to be up-to-date taken less than six months. You may be wondering if they'll know when a photo is taken. Yes, the machine is able to detect when a photo was taken. So be sure to take a recent one to use in your application.

Little to no makeup. It's also very important, as they are trying to maintain your natural look. Too much makeup can conceal your true identity and make it difficult to know the applicants real face or complexion.

Passport

Passport was a must during the previous years but last year they ruled out that people can apply without passport in the last application process. This year's application we're still waiting to see if passport will be included as a must have. But it's better to secure your passport early as you wait for October to avoid last minute rush and disappointments.

National  ID

You need to have your national ID as part of the application to determine which country you're applying from.

Birth Certificate

Birth certificate is also mandatory in this process to know where you were born in. Here you'll need to have your birth certificate and those of your parents or either one of them

High School Diploma or it's Equivalent

The minimum level of education is the high school diploma or its equivalent. Anything below that disqualifies you to make the application process. All applicants who do not reach this level are not considered for this lottery and can opt for other methods to work and live in the US. I have listed several ways below.

These are the major requirements for applying for a green card every year when the portal is opened.

Greencard Lottery Selection Process

After the applicants have delivered their application, the selection process is scheduled to take place which is done manually by a panel of experts then finalised by the computer. Here is the process on how the lottery takes place:

The first round is done manually by a team of experts. They go through the documents and pull out applicants with wrong photo, this include wrong pixel, specifications, wrong background colour too much makeup, unclear or blurry photos. Always take your passport photo with a professional photographer who understands the requirement of green card application as this plays a very important role in your winning process.

Those that did not deliver all documents are also pulled out. There are applicants who leave behind important documents hoping to be picked as they look for their documents.

They check up for double application and disqualifies the applicants who break this important rule. Never apply twice as a person. If you're married, your partner should apply separately to increase your chances of winning.

After this first selection process is done. By this time half the applicants have been pulled out and the remaining half proceeds to the next stage  The remaining selection will go through a machine. This is now the real lottery where the machine gets to decide who wins and who loses. Here it's pure luck that you get the opportunity to be amongst the winners.

In the beginning of May the following year the greencard portal is opened again this time round the results of the selection is posted. You can use the previous application code that was given to you to open your portal for the results. For those who have been selected, this does not mean you can now have a direct entry to the US. There is still a long and very tiresome process that involves money to follow in oder to make it to the US.

Here the documents you produce and the details you give out should be in line with what you filled in when you did your first application process. Any mistakes or misinformation can lead to visa denial.
